homage

lost in the rhythmic percussion of waves.

Her eyes are steady to the horizon, face aglow with the last orange rays before twilight beckons the stars.

Her lips bear the semblance of a smile,

just enough to show that she is enjoying her thoughts, whatever they may be.

She pays her homage with a paintbrush, dancing across the pages on her lap, generously bathed in a rich blue.

She watched from high above as the waves crashed violently against the base of the crumbling cliffs.

The water suddenly seemed closer, and closer as she realized she was tumbling towards it. Rapidly, yet in slow motion.

With eyes closed,

ready for the oblivion it would bring.

The waves welcomed her home,

an admirer who loved them from afar.

They cradle her gently, and weep bitterly.

For how can they think of hurting someone who has loved them so beautifully
